For three years, a serial killer has been targeting employees of Santa Fe’s Indian Bend Hotel and Casino by first abducting them and then burying them alive in the vast high desert of New Mexico’s Yiqua Indian Reservation. That’s the conclusion of Detective Clay Bryce of the Santa Fe Criminal Investigation Unit and Chief Jacoby Johnstone of the Yiqua Pueblo Tribal Police. The two combine forces and expertise to solve the murders. Among the suspects are Denver Stennet, roommate of two of the victims, and John Grainger, Operations VP at the Indian Bend. Still others emerge with motives of their own in this perverse tale of death in the desert.
Murders in the High Desert Tony Spallone Stephanie J Beavers Books
Hints, suspicions, clues, accusations and deceptions flash through the pages of Murders in the High Desert like the sun’s shifting shadows on the Sangre de Cristo Mountains near Santa Fe. Although without bicycles this time, Tony Spallone takes us on another ride as breathless and bumpy as the twisting trip through Breeze Canyon in his first novel. On page 357 (of the total 363) I found the word ‘diabolical’ in print, but I had been muttering it to myself from the beginning. In fact, from before the beginning — since the tone of this crime thriller is well established in the prologue. Now it's a matter of who's next, who dunnit, and why!
You will be tempted to race through Murders in the High Desert as your curiosity peaks and adrenaline surges, but there is more than action here. A closer read reveals that Spallone writes from a solid psychological background, and the careful reader is left with a lot more to think about than all the red herrings (or red shadows!) that make this suspense novel so much fun.

Murders in the High Desert Tony Spallone Stephanie J Beavers Books Reviews
This book had me guessing until the end about who committed the crimes. It kept my interest so it was hard to put down. Although he is not as wordy as some authors, Tony did a great job of telling a story.
Very fun read. Very much enjoyed the setting in Santa Fe/New Mexico area and the plot development. Having a mix of the native american and the local law enforcement made it interesting and enjoyable to follow the plot.
Fabulous! This book is an A+. It's as good as the famous authors like Balducci, Connely, Deighton and DeMille. Can't wait for his next book.
The book is an A+. Read it in three days! Very suspenseful.

Another great mystery by Tony Spallone! The characters are well-developed. Some authors are too wordy making books long & boring. Tony only gives you information you need to help solve the mystery. I suspected almost every character in the book. Loved all the twists, turns & surprising ending! I will definitely be reading his new third book!
I have read both of Tony's books and loved them. He is an awesome man and great writer. He attended our book club 2x and he is a truly nice and interesting man. I highly recommend reading his books. I know I am going to read book 3 and will enjoy it as much as the first 2. I do not write many reviews but I just had to this time. I wish Tony great success and I hope he keeps writing books!!!!!
As with Tony's first book I had trouble putting it down as there was always something at the end of each chapter that caused me to want to read more, to find out what happened next. There were several characters that I suspected as the murderer which is how it should be. Wondering how long we have to wait for his next book. Looking forward to it.
I read "Murder at Breeze Canyon" a while ago and truly looked forward to Tony Spallone's second book, "Murders in he High Desert". I was not at all disappointed. Each time I thought I knew who the murderer was, there was another twist in the plot , leading me re-think my first, second, third, fourth and fifth opinions as to "who dunnit". A fun read with multi-dimensional characters. Look forward to the next one.
